The questions are the same as those on Ofsted’s Parent View survey and are an affirmation of school effectiveness and satisfaction.  We thank our community for such a positive response and pledge to continue to our focus on school improvement.  Returns were received from around 70% of eligible parents.

Many comments were also sent with the returns, our thanks to parents for their kind words and honesty.  The overwhelming majority contained praise and thanks, we are really grateful for this.  A few concerns were raised on individual incidents, we will be addressing these in the coming weeks to resolve the matters raised.  We also wish to make the additional comments to clear up misconceptions:

The school conducts parent consultations online as this is more efficient at connecting school to home.  Our experiences are that by holding them online more family members engage than when we held them in person.  They are definitely more popular with most parents and teachers. However, any parent can raise an issue with their child’s class teacher at any time by agreeing a mutually agreeable date and time to meet.  You do not need to wait until the scheduled consultation meetings are held to have a conversation with the class teacher.
The school’s curriculum is published on our website, details of class topics and subject content are included: https://www.geariesprimaryschool.co.uk/topic/our-curriculum
We will shortly publish a list of all available clubs and how to enquire about booking a place in them.
When children settle down to their lunch time they are given as much time as they like to eat it.  Unless a child is still eating at the end of the lunch break, no one is told to hurry up and eat.
The foundation subjects (arts, humanities, and languages) are taught in blocks throughout the school year, you can review the rhythm in the curriculum maps.  All other subjects are taught each week.  The time coverage reflects the relative significance.
Long term teacher absence has been a concern for the school for a number of years.  We support our colleagues to make a successful return to work in time and recognise this can be disruptive for children.  We aim to secure a minimum number of replacement teachers wherever possible, however this can be challenging to achieve in the current employment climate.  We assure you we aim to keep disruption to a minimum at all times.
Our school website contains details of policies and procedures.  Current news and updates are published on our school blog.  A link is contained in the website for ease, though we recommend parents log in directly to the blog at least once a week for updates.  In contrast, the website changes very infrequently.  The School Ping service is a text messaging service with personal and targeted news as opposed to general messages.

Each entrance and exit to the school is manned by a member of SLT each day, please feel free to make enquiries at any time, we are happy to provide answers wherever we can.
