Thursday 3rd March: World Book Day

As you know next week is World Book Day, Thursday 3rd March 2022. It is a chance for us, as a school, to celebrate our love for books together, as a community. This year, to support their learning we have decided we would like the children's costumes to centre around the book they are studying in their class. We believe this will support their learning in class and make it an immersive and engaging day if all the children work together.

We do not want you to feel that you need to buy costumes, instead we encourage you and the children to be creative with their wardrobe and items you have around the house to interpret a part of the story of their choosing.

The year groups are working on the following books:

Nursery- A range of space themed books.

Reception- Farm Animals

Year 1- A range of space themed books.

Year 2- The Bee who spoke.

Year 3- The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe

Year 4- A Roman Story

Year 5- Odysseus

Year 6- The life of Ernest Shackleton

We want to stress this is not a 'Wear Your Own Clothes' day nor is it an opportunity to wear any costume. As we will be arranging activities for the children centred around the book, costumes should relate back to the story in someway. Alternatively, children can come in their school uniform. To help, teachers from your year groups will be in touch with further information and ideas for the event. We are really looking forward to seeing all of the classes and the interesting scenes they create.
