Summer learning
Each year group has posted a range of summer learning opportunities on their respective blogs. These are age specific and we hope you will consider taking part in the summer holidays. Activities include places to visit locally with learning activities related to the venues - wildlife parks, museums, rive walks etc. Most are free to take part in and have been chosen to compliment the children's recent learning focus. Please visit your child's current year group blog to see all the content.
Topic webs
At the start of the autumn term, each year group will be posting topic maps for parents to view on the year group blogs. These are visual diagrams showing the content of the learning across the curriculum. They are intended to give you an update on what the children will be learning about over the next half term. Each half term the topic changes, details of the new webs will be posted at the start of each half term. Blog posts will be accompanied by a video message from the year group leader explaining the topic content, and later in the term some examples of the children's best work. We hope you find these posts helpful.
Building works
Over the coming months we are having some maintenance works in the school grounds. The most significant project is the repair and upgrade to our main school heating system. The heating pumps are being repaired, water pipes replaced and the old convector heaters and radiators in the classrooms are being replaced with modern models. As you can imaging this involves a lot of disruption. The works have just started and will continue over the autumn term months. Please bear with us whilst the works are being completed. In addition to these works, we are having some of our external walls repointed and some of the old guttering replaced. These works are due to finish before the children return to school.
Staffing News
At the end of the summer term we said farewell to Miss Osafo, who is relocating to another country to continue her teaching career overseas. We thank her for her support for the school and wish her well in her future career.
We look forward to officially welcoming to our school a number of new appointments in September. Mr Mason will be starting as a class teacher in class 1C, he joins us from Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary school. Miss Yelles will be supporting the teaching team in class RC as a trainee teacher on our School Direct programme. We have appointed a number of SEND Practitioners, most of which have been working at the school via a supply agency: Mrs Parekh, Mrs Umer, Mrs Tharmendraa, and Miss Manmohan. Mrs Begum is moving from her current post as a Midday Assistant to join the SEND Practitioner team. We are looking forward to welcoming all of these colleagues to our school community.
