 Health and Safety

We can confirm that the school is operating its current arrangements to protect against the pandemic and all of our previous precautions are still in place.  These will  remain until further notice, we have no indication from government on when school restrictions will be lifted.  As soon as the situation changes and we can relax measures we will share this with you.  In the meantime please follow government guidance and help protect our community.

School standards

It has been great to return to uninterrupted teaching and learning since lockdown ended.  The standard of teaching in classrooms is currently being reviewed by the SLT through professional Learning Walks and teachers are getting guidance on how to strengthen their practice.  Each teacher will also shortly be assessing the children for end of year attainment in all subjects, as we usually do.  You will be given an end of year report before the end of term with details of the latest results, to help you see how well the children have progressed in their learning.  We are also close to finalising staffing arrangements for September.  Details will be shared with you before the end of term including new classes and teachers.  The Reception classes will be re-organised into new groupings for September as a final move, so that each class is better balanced, whilst maintaining friendship groups and the spread of ability across the classes.  We expect to move to four forms of entry in Year Five in September, we will then be only one class short of a full school - the vacant year six class.  This will be filled in the following year, which will mark the end of our formal expansion.

Fire Drill

You may be aware we conducted our once a term fire drill in school on Monday afternoon.  As we went outside and the classes lined up, it started to rain and we ended up in a thunder storm.  The drill went very well, unfortunately we all got wet and there was some minor distress as the storm began, however the staff managed the situation very professionally and showed we can manage well in unexpected events.  We returned back indoors as soon as we could, the whole event lasted less than ten minutes.  It was reassuring to note how successful the drill was and we evacuated in under two minutes.

Broken limbs and serious sprains

If your child sustains a broken limb or serious sprain, a new Care Plan needs to be negotiated with the team in our office before that child can return to school, to ensure we have defined safety procedures and are offering best care.  This may involve restrictions or additional precautions.  If this applies to you please contact the office before your child returns to school.
