Staffing update
Please note the following staffing news.  Miss Bolton (Reception Practitioner) left the school in May to take up another post in south London.  She is being replaced by Mrs Zahra for the remainder of the summer term.  Mrs Porter will be leaving us at the end of the month after many years excellent service as our Pupil Support Adviser.  We wish her all the best for her future and thank her for her excellent wok supporting vulnerable children in our school.
Mrs Amey, currently completing her School Direct training with us in the Reception classes, will finish her programme at the end of June and will be taking up a position at a local school as a qualified teacher.  We also wish her all the best in her teaching career and thank her also for her support to our children.
More news on further teaching movement will follow in the End of Term newsletter, next month.

New school timetable
In the week beginning 19th June we will be trialling the proposed new school timetable, in preparation for September.  It will be necessary to have a new timetable to manage the children’s lunchtimes when the building work begins.  This is expected in the autumn term.  At that point, we will only have one playground to use.  In order to ensure our plans will be efficient, we will trial the first version of the timetable to ensure that if we have any difficulties, we have enough time to amend the plans and be sure the schedule will work well for all the children.
The start and end times of the day will remain unchanged, however we will be introducing a split lunch break system for the Infant and Junior classes.  If your child goes home for dinner please make sure you are collecting at the right time.  Details of the timetable for this week will be published nearer the time.

Maths Teacher of the Year
We are happy to announce that both Mrs O’Driscoll and Miss Fan have been nominated for the award of Maths Teacher of the Year in the London North East Maths Hub’s annual competition.  Both have been recognised for their strategic role as Senior Leaders of Education (SLE) in leading the development of Mastery Maths across not only Gearies Primary but many other schools in Redbridge and beyond.  We wish them well in the competition.

Fruit for playtimes
Children in both the Infant and Junior playgrounds are now being offered free fruit to eat as a snack during playtimes.

Dog fouling on surrounding pavements
We recently alerted the local Council to the nuisance and hazard of dog fouling on the pavements around the school.  We are looking for support and action from the Highways team in tackling this unpleasant problem.
