Reception
|

Children are expected to read at home daily for at least 5
minutes and then to record their reading in their journals.
·
“Sight words” will be sent home
to learn, as appropriate.
·
In the autumn term, theme
related projects will be sent home each week.
·
From the Spring term onwards, one additional piece of
homework will be sent home each week, consolidating maths and English,
alternating weekly.

Three

Children are expected to read at home daily for 10 minutes
and then to record their reading in their journals.
·
One additional piece of homework will be sent home each
week, consolidating maths and English, alternating weekly. Occasionally, a topic related project
will replace this.

Four
|
·
Children are expected to read at home daily for 15 minutes
and then to record their reading in their journals.
·
One additional piece of homework will be sent home each
week, consolidating maths and English, alternating weekly.
·
Spellings will also be sent home to learn each week.

Five
|
·
Children are expected to read at home daily for 15 minutes
and then to record their reading in their journals.
·
There will be spellings and mental maths that children will
need to revise for each week.
·
On Mondays, children will receive a piece of maths or
English homework that will be marked and needs to be returned on the
following Friday.
·
On weekends, children will be able to choose a task from
their topic box activities; this needs to be returned on Mondays.

Six
|
·
Children are expected to read at home daily for 20 minutes
and then to record their reading in their journals.
·
Each week a piece of maths homework will be set, based on
current class learning.
·
In addition to this, a piece of English homework will also
be set, alternating between a reading-based task and a writing task.
·
Spellings will also be sent home to learn each week.
·
Children will be expected to revise all maths and English
topics through their revision guides.
Children will need to take responsibility for their own revision, and
ensure all topics are covered and understood.
