News and events

1. Staffing News:
We are happy to confirm the following promotions within the school, following recent interviews.  Mr Lea has now been appointed as a permanent Deputy Head in the school.  This follows his successful period as Acting Deputy.   In addition to this, Mr Matthews is being promoted to Senior Teacher in the school as from September.  He will assume his role as year group co-ordinator for the coming academic year. We congratulate both teachers on their success.
We are very happy to welcome back Miss O’Reilly to the school at the end of her maternity leave.  Please note her new role of PE and Sport leader.  During the summer term she will be supporting PE and Sports activity in the school.
Both Mrs Hinkley and Mrs Seal will also return from maternity leave before the end of term.
Sadly, we will be parting company at the end of this term with Miss Garland, Mr Keegan, Mr Richardson and Miss Matwychuk, who all move on to pastures new.  Mrs Naeem will not be returning from her maternity year in a permanent capacity but will be providing occasional cover when needed.
As from September Ms Billen will be reducing her hours to 3 days a week.  We will be joined in the new term by a number of permanent appointments; Mr Ali, Mr Wilkes and Mr Hession, all of whom have been in the school over the year to support learning in the classes.  All teacher and class allocations for next year will be announced in your child’s end of year report.  All classes will remain complete as they transfer to the next year group.
We anticipate some more staffing news before the end of term.  This will be announced in the next newsletter.

2. Our new Big ideas
How are we going to make the school even better?  Our Big Ideas have been chosen to do just this. They are the most important things we will be doing in school over the next year.

Our Big Theme is: Towards Outstanding – raising standards of teaching and learning

We will achieve the following:

1. We will help all children to make excellent progress in their learning
2. All of the teachers will continue to assess children’s work accurately
3. We will think of new ways of helping children learn about writing so they can be even more successful
4. We will plan a new curriculum map of learning
5. We will help to train members of staff in other schools
6. We will encourage children to be sporty
7. We will help children to be even better at thinking scientifically
8. Teachers will help each other to be even better at teaching
9. We will help children to be resilient, responsible and independent
10. We will help our school leaders to be even better at helping others

We are all a part of our school and all agree to take responsibility for making these Big Ideas happen.  We look forward to learning new things together, taking risks and enjoying our learning together.

3. Lunchtime pilot
The lunchtime pilot in KS1 has not formally finished after a very successful evaluation.  The hours for the Infant school lunchtime are now officially 12.15 to 1.15pm, in line with the Junior break times.  This marks the adoption of these times at the primary school’s lunch period.
Please note that the Reception classes still come into the hall for their dinner from 12.05pm.
