Welcome to our Design a Card Project which the PTA is undertaking in
partnership with Art Projects for Schools Ltd (APFS).
The aim of this project is to give the children the chance to design a
piece of artwork and then have their work professionally printed onto a card.
Whether, it’s a birthday card, Festival card, or left blank for any other occasion,
family members and friends will be thrilled to receive it.
Should you decide to take part in this amazing opportunity, please
observe the following Do and Don’ts when creating your
artwork:
1. The children simply produce their designs on A4 paper only. Please do not use thin paper. This is because
thinner papers are more likely to crease and therefore may produce shadowing.
2. Please do not use GLITTER as
this can contaminate other artworks and damage machinery used in the printing
process. We also strongly advise against the use of pearlised paint, metallic
or reflective materials and fluorescent/highlighter pens as these do not always
reproduce as vibrantly as they appear on paper. This is due to the lack of
depth of colour with the highlighter pens and the fact that the pearlised
paint, metallic and reflective materials will bounce light back during the
scanning process and this may distort the colour of these materials.
3. Please ensure that any pastel/charcoal drawings have been fixed (with
either fixative or hairspray) as they may smudge during the production process.
4. All faint/pale pencil crayon lines/shading are difficult to reproduce.
Bold colours will work best.
5. Dark colours on dark colours (e.g. dark blue on black) do not reproduce
particularly clear.
6. Any colour paper or thin card can be used for artworks however we advise
that coloured sugar paper can be difficult to colour match.
7. Please keep any lettering away from the edge of image as up to 5mm can
be lost during this production process.
8. Please ensure the picture is 2D and not 3D. Please be aware that
whatever appears on the artwork will appear on the card for e.g. if your child
puts their name on the front of the artwork, this will appear on the card
How to order
your cards
Inside the plastic wallet you will find an order form (for example: the
packs start form 1 pack of 12 cards at a cost of £6.00 and increase in price).
If you would like to order some cards, please fill out the order form enclosed in this pack and stick to the back
of your child’s artwork using either glue
or tape (please do not use a staple as this will show up on your child’s completed
card).
Return the artwork with the completed form (in the plastic wallet
provided) to the school office, together with the exact money, in a sealed
envelope (please note that we are unable to accept cheques this time round only
cash).
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD’S NAME AND CLASS
IS CLEARLY WRITTEN ON THE ORDER FORM.
We would be grateful if you could keep the artwork as clean as possible,
as this is the original form which the cards will be made.
If you would like a sibling to make a card or your child to create
another piece of artwork to make into a card, please collect another order form
from the school office and pop the completed artwork in the same plastic
wallet. You can do as many orders as you like.
There is also an option to order gift tags for £2.50 per pack of 12.
All orders and payment must be returned to the school by:
Monday 25th
November 2013
N.B. We will not be able to accept orders returned
after this date.
Our expected delivery date is 13th December.
For every pack we sell, a percentage of the money goes towards the
school PTA fund.
