Homework policy

The school has recently reviewed its homework policy.  Please find below details for each year group.  Th full policy is available on Fronter in the Parents' Room and also on the new school website (to be published shortly - details to follow).
Please consult the class teachers if you have any questions about homework.



Reception

Two reading books sent home every week for the child to read.
“Sight words” sent home for the child to learn, as appropriate.
A phonic task will be sent home once a week for the first ten weeks of the year. A maths task will be sent home once a week.

Year One

Two reading books sent home every week for the child to read.
A list of sight words/phonics/spellings will be sent home for the child to learn.
A maths or literacy task will be sent home once a week.

Year Two

Two reading books sent home every week for the child to read.
A list of spellings will be sent home at the beginning of each year, for the child to learn.
Once a week the children will be set a project related to their class work. A maths task will be sent home once a week.
In the spring term, or when the children are ready,  a maths or a comprehension task will be sent home once a week Homework will support class lessons and focus on prior learning.
The maths and literacy work will be alternated each week.

Year Three

Two reading books sent home every week for the child to read.
Follow up activities to books read at home, including:
comprehension exercises, diary entries, related tasks, “write the next chapter” etc.
A list of spellings will be sent home each week, for the child to learn.  These will be tested in class each week.
Differentiated tasks related to class study, each week.
Learning times tables and number bonds to 20
Topic box of activity choices for children to engage with over each term. Each child ill complete one task of their choice each weekend.

Year Four

Expectation to read at home daily for 15 minutes then to do follow up activities, including:
comprehension exercises, diary entries, related tasks, “write the next chapter” etc.
A list of spellings will be sent home each week, for the child to learn.  These will be tested in class each week.
Differentiated tasks related to class study, each week.
Topic box of activity choices for children to engage with over each term. Each child will complete one task of their choice each weekend.

Year Five

A literacy task will be set each week
Differentiated tasks related to class study, each week
Topic box of activity choices for children to engage with over each term. Each child ill complete one task of their choice each weekend.
Tasks and frequency will change as the SATs approach.
