You may have seen the recent news about the progress between the teaching unions and the Secretary of State over negotiations on school funding and pay awards. No agreement has yet to be made and the dispute will continue into the summer term. It is a responsible precaution to give you advance notice of potential dates for further industrial action.
The NEU is proposing two further dates for action - Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May. As soon as action is confirmed details will be shared with you. Some classes may be closed on those days.
It is a possibility that two further teaching unions - the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) and the NASUWT, may also ballot their members for industrial action in the coming months, as their members have similarly rejected the pay offer.
We seem set for a summer of unrest until a workable agreement has been negotiated. As soon as any new definitive action has been announced, details will be shared with you.
