The weather forecast for Monday and Tuesday is a prediction of extreme heat. Further to guidance received on Friday afternoon from the local authority and the government, as indicated earlier, the school will be making the following further adjustments to our procedures.
The school will remain open as usual for the final days of the school term. However, if a parent is concerned that the weather will pose a significant risk to their child, you have the option of keeping your child at home on Monday and Tuesday, when the official Red alert is in place. If you choose to do this, please send a message by email to the school office, refrain from making a telephone call. Our school gates will be manned in the morning as usual by members of our SLT, who will be available to answer any questions you may have. Please do not ask to collect children at lunchtimes.
We will add the following measures to our in-school procedures for the week ahead:
• We are changing our Move-up afternoon to Wednesday morning
• Class parties will all now move to Wednesday
• A decision on the Nursery picnic date has yet to be made, we will be in touch as soon as possible
• There will be no PE lessons next week
• Parents are reminded of our summer uniform options, please note this includes shorts or a summer dress. We recommend children only wear one layer of clothing, please avoid your children wearing the following – vests, jumpers, sweatshirts and coats
• At lunchtimes we will use our school halls for children to relax in out of the sun
• KS1 afternoon play will be held indoors
• The introductory session for new Reception children will go ahead on Monday afternoon but this will be limited to 45 minutes
• If class numbers fall to a very low number, we may combine classes together for the day
We may make further decisions during the day based on an evaluation of the exact nature of the weather. We will take every possible step to ensure each child is safe and protected. In the eventuality of a child suffering from over-heating we will be in touch to ask you to collect from the school as soon as possible.
