Covid update

As you are aware this has been another turbulent week in school with the same high levels of infection in both staff and pupils.  Our absent colleagues and children are all fighting their own battles with the virus and we should start seeing some of them return next week, it will be great to welcome them back.

It has been expecially challenging each day to have to arrange class cover with very little notice, thank you for your patience and understanding.  I am hoping the case load will get better soon.  Redbridge data indicates we have the highest number of weekly infections in schools this month since the pandemic began back in 2020.  The school is working very hard to provide support where needed, thank you for the part you have played in being there for each other and especially the children.

We are going to retian all of our current Covid precautions in school at the moment, such as face mask wearing, room ventillation and hand washing for the next few weeks up to half term, at least.  Over 98% of our staff are fully vaccinated.  Even though the Prime Minister has announced an end to national restrictions, we will keep our measures in place to offer protection for everyone in school.  This seems wise in light of the high cases we currently have.  Omicron may be in decline in the UK but not in the Gearies community.  Please help us to support and protect each other by following the guidance.
