Poppy appeal 2021

We are proud to support the annual Royal British Legion's charity appeal this year.  We will be offering the traditional poppies for children to purchase.  Volunteers will be bringing them to each class during the registration period in the morning.  If you wish to support the charity please send in an appropriate donation.

In addition, we have a box of special products for sale that can be bought directly from our school office:

Half term update

This has been a long half term, our thanks to our wonderful colleagues for their commitment over the past two months.  They have all worked hard and the challenges of getting back to a more normal routine have been felt by everyone.  We have all been exposed to a wide variety of unpleasant germs and illnesses, our staff absence rate has remained very high since September.  Pupil absences have also been very high.  We are managing Covid infections in the school, and up to recently were being very successful in stopping the spread within school (see update later in the blog for greater detail).  It would be fair to say the children's behaviour has also not been what it normally is, some behaviour, though uncharacteristically intolerant and below our usual expectations, is being dealt with successfully by the whole team.  I hope you have a restful half term and look forward to greeting the children back in school on Monday.

Covid update

Infection rates in Redbridge schools continue to rise to an alarming rate, we are currently even higher than the same time last year, in fact seven times higher, and even higher than the peak in December last year.  Redbridge LA rates are slightly lower than national equivalents, the majority of live cases are in primary and secondary children.  We are also recording a lot of cases in school at the moment, even during half term, mostly in Years Three, Four and Five, but also two colleagues have also tested positive.  Vaccination is a major prevention but not a guarantee against transmission.  Please stay vigilant, watch for symptoms and stay in touch if you become unwell.

Recent staffing changes

A number of new members of staff will be starting after half term, joining the SEND support team.  Please take a moment to say hello, help make their start welcoming.

Miss Faiz - starts on 1st November as an Apprentice SEND Practitioner
Mrs Ashraf - starts on 1st November as a SEND Practitioner
Miss Yussuf - starts on 29th November as an Kickstart SEND Practitioner
