Thornhill by Pam Smy
I
discovered the joy of reading books as an adult and when I did I tried to read
everything I could get my hands on. I noticed that many books were very similar
in how they told their story. Until I came across Thornhill.
This book is about two girls
who go to Thornhill Institute 30 years apart and as the reader you discover
clues about each other’s existence; what they went through, how they felt and
what kind of life they lived.
Thornhill is unique due to it
being a picture book with no words yet evoking strong feelings. The author
allows the reader to soak in the atmosphere within the pages. There is a
fascinating amount of detail to each page that made me stop and think.
This is a very difficult book
to forget because the author trusted me as a reader to interpret the meanings
on each page and allowed me to see the depths of her characters.
