Arrangements for Eid ul-Fitr

The coming festival of Eid ul-Fitr is expected to be on Thursday 13th May.  We await confirmation of the exact date, the following arrangements will be in place on whatever date is actually announced.

If your child will be off school on the festival date please ensure you let the class teacher know in advance.

It is expected that the majority of children will not be in school on that day.  As in all previous years it will be necessary to be creative with class arrangements, we will be temporarily breaking class bubbles on that day only.  Local infection rates are currently extremely low and the risks for one day are greatly reduced.

It is not known exactly how many children will be absent on Eid, we will most likely record around 60% absences or more, reflecting the faith nature of our community, spread across the school.  This will not be even across each class, some will have fewer numbers than others.

On entry to the school, children will be gathered together in one or two rooms in each year group and registered by the teachers.  SLT will then gather together the numbers on roll and make a quick decision as to how many classes need to be organised in each year group.

As we are re-constituting the remaining classes there is an additional risk of infection from new contacts, we will keep the register of the classes in case a positive case is reported within the children.  Teachers will be planning revision lessons for those present and will remain 2m distant from the children during the day, keeping the classes well ventilated and expecting children to wash hands on entry to the classrooms.  The new class bubbles will not mix with other bubbles.  Usual safety preciuations to prevent the spread of Covid will remain in place.  Only the minimum number of staff will be present in classrooms to reduce risks.

We will revert to our usual organisation on the day after.
