News update - 22nd March 2021

 Returned form Lockdown

We have just started the third week back at school since the easing of national restrictions in schools, and so far things have gone very well.  The children and staff have returned with renewed enthusiasm and an eagerness to get back to a more familiar timetable.  We are slowly returning to a more recognisable rhythm but appreciate that this is more of a challenge for those children who have been learning at home since December.

We have observed in some children a greater feeling of fatigue over the week, a shorter concentration span, new minor ailments and an increase in simple accidents around the building.  These are all side effects of the change of pace from the return to school.  Most will pass shortly as we all get used to the current daily timetable.

Covid Symptoms and getting a test

This is the current list of Covid symptoms, as confirmed by the NHS:

  • High temperature or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhoea

This list does not include all possible symptoms, however the three in bold are the most common.  If a child presents in school with any of these, we are taking no chances and will advise that the child is immediately taken to our local testing centre in Cranbrook Road for a Covid test, just to be safe.  This will help us reduce transmissions around the school.

Since we returned from Lockdown we are happy to report that we have yet to record any new positive cases.  Thank you to everyone for your co-operation in taking precautions to stop the spread of the pandemic, it looks like so far we are doing very well.  The local rate of infection has reduced greatly, we are all looking forward to the further reduction in national restrictions on April 12th.

Easter holiday clubs

To date, we are not expecting to offer any holiday clubs over the East holiday.  Our usual source of providers are delaying offering new opportunities until we return in the new summer term.  Some of our regular partners will be resuming their lettings and clubs as from April.  Please watch out for details of how to sign up as they are released.
