News roundup - 4th February 2021

Infections and testing

The Year Two bubble was sent into self-isolation earlier this week for the rest of this half term as the result of two positive cases in that room.  We wish those affected all the best for a speedy recovery and hope no one else becomes affected by the virus.

Members of staff in school are currently taking two lateral flow tests each week to screen for asymptomatic infection of Covid-19.  So far we are accurately identifying such cases when they occur and we are also able to reassure everyone else that no virus is present.  Our thanks to everyone for supporting this medical process.

Remote learning

We look forward to a well deserved break over the half term holiday, thank you to each parent and carer who have been supporting children so well in the past 5 weeks with their remote learning, thank you to each of you for a great job.  Please note that there will not be any live lessons over half term, or on the Inset day on Friday.  If you wish to continue to support your children with learning at home on those days you will be able to find plnty of inspiration on the year group blogs.  Please be mindful though that the children probably also could do with a rest over half term.

Latest local Covid data

The recent data on Covid infections in the borough show a very encouraging downward trend.

Estimated weekly case rates:

12th January - 1,382 per 100,000

26th January - 397 per 100,000

2nd February - 322 per 100,000

Redbridge has now the 8th highest infection rate in London, down from 2nd highest on 12th January.

This marks excellent progress, well done to everyone for following the rules and protecting each other.  Our thoughts and sympathies are with those who have lost loved ones and friends recently.  This is the greatest health crisis we have faced in living memory, we can get through this by supporting each other and taking every precaution to prevent further infection.
