Teachers and other members of school staff need to be absent from school from time to time for a variety of reasons, as is the case for employees in all types of business. This term is no different from any other in that respect, but the coronavirus pandemic means that sometimes a staff absence might lead to pupils also having to be absent from school.
This letter is to confirm that we will tell you through our usual communication channels if a staff absence means that your child or children need to stay at home instead of coming to school. That could be the case if for example the NHS Test and Trace service identified that a member of staff has tested positive for coronavirus / covid-19. We will not routinely tell you about any staff absence unless it impacts on your child’s / children’s attendance at school.
We will always talk with public health experts before making a decision that your child or children need to stay at home because of the pandemic.
For
the time being you do not need to take any action – please just be aware that
sometimes decisions on absence may have to be taken quickly. Rest assured that we will always let you know
as soon as possible if any action is required by you.
