Poem about Lockdown

Our thanks to Hana from class 6B for writing these wise and thoughtful words about lockdown.

Life in lockdown
When the world has come to a pause
No travelling, no outdoors

Before the covid19 scare
Spring was blooming in the air

The gloominess that crawls up to mind
Has stored memories of friendships behind

All is shut, all is close
Can’t even go and admire a rose

Life is too unpredictable
Which makes it more miserable

I've heard people wear masks
I tend to wonder, how long this will last

Keeping safe and practice social distancing
But don't lose touch with your family, it's all about balancing

Being locked down at home is not all bad,
I've actually learned that my brother is a nice lad

I can't wait for things to get back to normal
When there were no rules and things weren't so formal

My dad tells me we are living through history.
It will be taught in schools and written in books of mystery.

I can't wait for all this to be in the past
I tend to wonder how long this will last
