Uniform
We have been advised by Mapac (one of the online companies who sell our school uniform) that orders with them need to be laced by 4th August so that items can be delivered in time for September.

Charity fundraising
We are really proud of Raghu Datt (Year 6) for organising his own charity collection for Cancer Research UK.  He raised monies by getting sponsors for walking to his target 10,000 steps per day.  He managed to reach his goals and raised a very impressive £516.00 for the charity.  Well done Raghu on an inspirational act.

Warning about social media
We need to raise awareness about social media, as we have become aware of some children in year 6 are using WhatsApp and Snapchat.
More than half of parents are unaware of age legal limits on social media. New figures suggest parents don't know if their children are old enough to use social networks like Facebook or Snapchat. Some sites can be a dangerous place for younger children, potentially exposing them to bullying, inappropriate content or grooming. But they can also provide important support networks for younger people.
The minimum age on twitter is 13, Snapchat is 13 and LinkedIn is 14. On WhatsApp it’s 16, and on Vine it’s 17. Some platforms, such as YouTube, WeChat and Kik, have a minimum age required of 18.
The reason for the age restrictions is to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA) – Preventing the collection and storage of personal information from a child under 13.
There is advice available for families, on Online Safety and from the Net Aware service that will help you learn how to keep children safe online.
It is a good idea to reiterate and communicate this information with everyone, especially your children in order to stay safe online.
