Response to increased security threat

In the light of recent terrorist attacks, the school has been reviewing its security arrangements.  Although the majority of our safeguarding arrangements are in line with agreed best practice we have decided to take some additional precautions:

1. We will be finalising and introducing a "Lock-down" procedure for keeping children safe in school if there is an external threat in the locality.  Details of this will be published once it has been fully agreed.

2.  We have reviewed our staffing ratios for educational visits to locations in central London and have decided to only take members of staff to supervise groups.

3.  We have also reviewed our external security on doors and have identified a number of doors that need to have upgraded locks put on them.

With these decisions being taken there will a number of changes.
We have cancelled the planned Y1 trip to the Science museum as there is not enough time to arrange additional staffing.  An alternative trip will be planned to take its place.
Entry to the school building may in future take longer, as we may need longer to process tighter checks on visitors.  Please be patient with our school office team if you experience delays in the future.

The children from class 5A wrote the prayer for their assembly on Friday.  It is very timely and expresses a suitable sentiment:

"Dear God,
Many innocent people have been taken from their lives by serious attacks this year.  We are gathered here today to pray for those who have left us.  May God give us protection and bravery.  We thai you God for a happy life."
