We are pleased to launch our new "Children's Cultural Rights Charter".
The specific listing of children’s rights in this charter serves to protect all children’s freedom and opportunity to access cultural experiences in their curriculum.
Article 31 of the UN Convention, ‘Every child has the right to relax, play and join in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities’
• Children at Gearies Primary have the right to access different cultural experiences.
• Children at Gearies Primary have the right for culture to be part of their curriculum.
• Adults should support children in experiencing different cultures.
• Adults must ensure that no child is prevented from engaging in a cultural activity because of disability.
• Adults should encourage children to engage in cultural activities outside of school
• Adults must ensure no one experiences discrimination
• Adults must ensure that no child is prevented from engaging in a cultural activity because of social or economic disadvantage.
• Adults must support children in learning about different cultures.
• Adults must adhere to our charter to ensure cultural safety, choice and equality.
