End of Term Newsletter

Monday 21st July
“Move-up Day” – all children report to their usual classes in the morning.  After the normal assemblies they will go to their new classrooms with their new teachers for the day.  They will all return to their usual rooms by the end of the day.
Y6 will be learning with a range of teachers during the day.

Wednesday 23rd July
  • 9.30am - Year Six Leavers’ Show in the Junior hall – entrance for parents via the playground.  Children are allowed to go home afterwards only if accompanied by their parents.
  • LAST DAY OF TERM – school closes at the usual times
  • Non-Uniform Day - children are invited to come to school out of school uniform, and to donate £1.50 to the school fund if so doing
We would like to wish everyone a happy summer holiday, congratulate the children on their numerous achievements during the year and thank the staff and governors for their outstanding work this year.  A big thank you also to all our parents and carers for their encouragement and support.

All children will return to school at the usual times on Wednesday 3rd September.  Children need to line up in their current class lines for the last time.  By the end of the day they will go to their new lining up positions.

Please note that from September the Main office in Waremead Road will handle all parent enquiries.  The rooms in the Gants Hill Crescent site will be re-designated, and will not be open for any visitors or enquiries at all.  Please ensure you use the right office entrance

School Uniform
School uniform is sold via the Tesco online service.  You can purchase white polo tops, yellow PE tops, jumpers, cardigans and fleeces all with our school logo.  Please visit www.tesco.com/ues

School Meals
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will receive free school meals from September 2014 and we encourage you take this up.  If you are in receipt of benefits, please still apply to Redbridge for free school meals as the school is awarded extra funding for each child entitled to free school meals because of their parent claiming benefits.  This can be applied for on the Redbridge website, please visit www.redbridge.gov.uk
Children in Years 3 to 6 must pay for school meals.  The price is £2.00 per day and must be paid for on a weekly basis, on a Monday morning only.  Children cannot mix packed lunches and school meals during the week (the only exception is bringing a packed lunch for a school trip).  Please ensure that you give your child £10.00 in a sealed envelope with their name and class clearly written on it.  School meal envelopes are available from the school office.

Medical Protocols
All asthma inhalers, epi pens and medicines will be sent home at the end of term.  Please make sure that all medicines are returned to the school on the first day back, 3rd September 2104.  All medication brought to school must be in-date with a prescription label from your GP.  It is your responsibility to administer medication which has not been prescribed by a GP.  Medical Care Plans can be carried out in special circumstances, broken limbs etc.  Please contact Sandra Jarrett in the main office for more information.

Attendance
If your child is unwell, please ring the school office in the morning with the reason for absence and write a note for your child to hand in on their return.  If we do not receive a note then your child will be marked as having an unauthorised absence.  Children that have vomiting or diahorrea must be kept away from school for 48 hours after the last bout of illness – this is recommended by the Health Protection Agency to ensure that illnesses do not spread to other children or members of staff.  Thank you for supporting us with this.
